SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WPRI) — An Amber Alert issued late Thursday morning was quickly called off after a missing 4-year-old girl was found safe.
Massachusetts State Police say Cortana Goncalves was located in Cheshire along with her mother, 32-year-old Brandee Arnold. The girl was unharmed.
The alert was issued after Arnold reportedly took her daughter from a family gathering in Springfield.
Arnold is Goncalves’ biological mother, according to police, but she does not have custody of the 4-year-old.
Police said they were concerned about Goncalves’ well-being due to concerning statements previously made by Arnold.
