Providence will be restarting a program launched by former Mayor Jorge Elorza to keep children occupied and fed during the summer. Mayor Brett Smiley announced that Eat, Play, Learn PVD will return on June 26. The program offers free meals to children under 18 at schools, parks, recreation centers, and pools. The city’s summer learning program will also begin on July 10, providing free breakfast and lunch, as well as transportation, to eligible students. Summer recreation camps will also be returning, with nearly 2,000 slots available at $5 per week. Additionally, online registration for 700 summer jobs will be open to teens, beginning at $15 per hour. Sign-ups for these programs will be available at the Summer Opportunities Fair on April 29, with online registration starting on that day. Further information can be found on the program’s website.
