Three Pawtuxet Village restaurants may have to significantly reduce their outdoor dining due to a disagreement with the building’s landlord. Revolution American Bistro, Fellini Pizzeria, and Bagel Express and Deli have been using an adjacent parking lot for outdoor dining since the pandemic’s “Take it Outside” initiative. The owner of Revolution American Bistro, Dean Scanlon, revealed that there were plans to make the parking lot a permanent location for outdoor dining, and so the landlord’s decision came as a surprise. The potential closure of the outdoor dining area would affect employees and the restaurants’ patrons. However, attorney Steve Conti, who represents the landlord, stated that making the parking lot a permanent outdoor dining space would cost thousands of dollars due to upgrades it would require. Additionally, he mentioned that the lot will revert to parking spaces, so the restaurants will still have access to outdoor dining. The dispute occurred days after a new law went into effect, allowing outdoor dining to continue until 2024.
