The annual fundraising campaign for local organizations by United Way of Rhode Island has been reported as more successful than ever this year, with over $3.4 million collected.
Organizers stated that 401Gives, which occurred on a fundraising weekend for the first time instead of a single day, brought in funding from more than 22,700 gifts from at least 15,183 different donors. The funds received will be distributed to 546 different charities and other nonprofits throughout the state.
Foster Forward received the highest amount of donations, totaling over $220,200, followed by the Audobon Society with nearly $137,500. Children’s Friend received the third-most with over $90,700.
United Way President and CEO Cortney Nicolato expresses her gratitude, stating, “We come into 401Gives each year with a lot of optimism, and the incredible generosity of Rhode Islanders never, ever disappoints.”
