Dan Hurley and Brian Dutcher went to the transfer portal to find the right pieces to elevate their teams in the NCAA Tournament. The use of the portal has allowed coaches to reshape their rosters quickly or find specific players to fill gaps. The Huskies added four perimeter players while the Aztecs added a starting point guard and a rotation guard. This approach has allowed older teams to make it to the Final Four, featuring players with years of experience and well-developed skills. Coaches can better project what level of production to expect from these players, as they are better equipped to contribute immediately. Overall, the transfer portal has benefited both coaches and players.
