Nam Knights of America Motorcycle Club organized a ride from Lincoln to Exeter to honor Gold Star Spouses. The riders laid a wreath at the Gold Star Family Memorial Monument at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter and planted American flags on tomb markers to pay tribute to those who lost their lives while serving in the military. The President of the Nathanael Green Chapter of the Nam Knights of Rhode Island, Michael Alves, hopes that the ride will help raise awareness for Gold Star Spouses Day. The club was approached by some Gold Star wives who were upset about the lack of recognition for the day. Gold Star Spouses Day is on April 5th.
