A man from Connecticut is facing charges after allegedly causing a collision that injured a police sergeant while driving drunk in February. David MacCracken, 53, of Plainville, turned himself in and was charged with operation of a motor vehicle under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, and second-degree assault (motor vehicle). The accident occurred on Route 184 at Jeremy Hill Road when MacCracken reportedly slammed into the stationary cruiser of Stonington Police Sgt. Mario Ritacco as he was conducting traffic detail. MacCracken suffered minor injuries and was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for treatment. He is due to appear in court on April 14.
