More than 50,000 hoverboards from Jetson Electric are being recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) due to fire hazards. This comes after two young girls died in a house fire last spring, with investigators determining that the family’s Jetson Rogue hoverboard was the likely cause. The self-balancing hoverboards contain lithium-ion battery packs that can overheat and catch fire, with Jetson Electric having received reports of them “burning, sparking or melting”. The recalled products were sold at Target stores nationwide and can be identified by charge ports with three pins, which are located to the left of the power button. Anyone who has purchased a recalled product is urged to stop using it and contact Jetson Electric regarding how to dispose of it and obtain a refund.
