The Boston Bruins played against the Nashville Predators following a tragic grade school shooting that left six dead, including three children. Predators defenseman Ryan McDonagh was not on the team flight to Boston as he chose to stay home with his three young daughters in the affected community. Afterward, McDonagh caught a commercial flight to join his team and chose to play while the teams wore helmet stickers to remember the victims. Despite the tragedy, the Predators beat the NHL-leading Bruins, and head coach John Hynes spoke to his team about the importance of using their platform as professional athletes to support the community in Nashville. Both teams also wore helmet stickers to support The Covenant School, where the shooting occurred.
