The R.I. Department of Education will be providing almost $4 million from the American Rescue Plan Act funding to 21 community-based organizations to support enrichment programs for students in Rhode Island, as announced by officials on Tuesday. The programs, which will provide after-school and year-round “enrichment activities and academic supports,” are expected to begin in the fall. Governor Dan McKee’s administration has also committed to matching the grants, adding $4 million to the state budget. The organizations receiving the grants are located in East Providence, Central Falls, Newport, Providence, Woonsocket, and Warwick.
