A man from New Bedford has been sentenced to 5-7 years in prison for causing a fatal drunk-driving crash in 2018. Justin Castro pleaded guilty to motor vehicle manslaughter for the death of David Dos Santos, who died in a two-car crash at an intersection in New Bedford. Dos Santos was a father of two from Dartmouth. Prosecutors said that Castro’s blood-alcohol level was .228 at the time of the crash, nearly three times over the legal limit, and that he was driving 61 mph in a 35 mph zone. District Attorney Thomas Quinn III called the case a tragedy and offered condolences to the victim’s family.
