Senate President Dominick Ruggerio retracted his earlier comments suggesting that the developer of the Superman building, High Rock, was requesting more money from the state, despite rising costs of the project. Ruggerio’s spokesperson clarified that the president had not participated in any meetings and was “speaking in generalities”. High Rock representatives have met regularly with local and state leaders, including Governor Dan McKee and housing secretary Stefan Pryor, to discuss project plans and monetary concerns. While High Rock has not made a formal request for more funding, rising interest rates and economic pressures have increased the overall cost of the $220m project.
