The crash that occurred in Cranston on Wednesday night claimed the lives of a man and a woman from Providence. According to reports, 21-year-old Jovanni E. Delgiudice was riding a motocross racing motorcycle with 20-year-old Yasmary Valdera as a passenger when they collided with an SUV around 8 p.m. The motorcycle was heading southbound on Broad Street when it skidded for 50 feet and hit the SUV’s front passenger side. Both riders were initially thrown off the motorcycle and later pronounced dead at the hospital. Witnesses stated that the motorcycle had no headlights and made an illegal pass on the left while driving towards oncoming traffic. Also, the riders weren’t wearing helmets, and neither had a license to operate a motorcycle. Investigators are still trying to ascertain how fast Delgiudice was driving before the accident as he had only acquired the motorcycle the day before. However, the posted speed limit in the area where the crash occurred is 25 miles per hour. The SUV driver, who is female and in her thirties, wasn’t hurt during the incident, and no evidence of wrongdoing on her part suggests that she won’t face charges.
