Nick Autiello, who works on global efforts to address climate change and previously ran for office in 2018, has announced his candidacy for the primary election to replace Congressman David Cicilline for Rhode Island’s 1st District. Autiello, a Providence Democrat, emphasized his experience in working on a variety of issues, including climate change and equality advocacy. Autiello is the third prominent Democrat in the race, alongside Lt. Gov. Sabina Matos and state Sen. Sandra Cano, and several other contenders are expected to join. No Republicans have launched their campaigns yet.
