The post features an image of Catalina Martinez and shares about her achievements in honor of International Women’s Month. WPRI 12 held the Remarkable Women contest for the fourth year, and Martinez was chosen as one of the four local finalists. Martinez grew up in a Cuban immigrant family and worked hard to improve her future. After earning a degree in Medical Assistance, she helped establish the Urban Collaborative Accelerated Program in Providence. Martinez pursued higher education and earned three graduate degrees. She later worked for 20 years as the Regional Program Manager for NOAA Ocean Exploration. Martinez is currently a diversity professional and advocates for lifting others up. WPRI 12 will feature one local finalist every Tuesday in March and share their stories on its website. The winner may be considered for Nexstar’s 2023 Woman of the Year award.
