Greetings and happy Saturday! I have another weekend column for WPRI.com, so please feel free to send your opinions, tips, and ideas to tnesi@wpri.com. Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter and Facebook. In this column, we discuss a 90-minute political conversation between Joe Shekarchi and Jack Reed at the Warwick IHOP, where the duo discussed the possibility of Shekarchi vying for Congress. Shekarchi later removed himself from consideration, acknowledging that moving from Smith Hill to Capitol Hill didn’t seem as appealing as it once did. We also cover several potential 1st Congressional District candidates and the GOP’s hopes to oust Seth Magaziner in 2024. In other news, the ongoing turmoil in the banking sector has given Rhode Island’s general treasurer, James Diossa, an early test. We also highlight several stories from my colleagues that you shouldn’t miss, including staffing shortages in healthcare, and Maura Healey’s commitment to Southeastern Massachusetts’ economic development.
