The police union in East Providence, Rhode Island has raised concerns about the state of the police station which they describe as “deplorable”. The president of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers Local 569, Kurt Ripke, said the building is unsafe and that their worries have gone unheeded by city authorities. Issues include a leaky roof resulting in water damage, an unacceptable prisoner’s area, a lack of space and safety hazards. Mayor Bob DaSilva refuted the claims that the issues had been ongoing for years and stated that the city is actively seeking a vendor to fix the roof.
