An investigation is currently underway regarding disturbing behavior between a Westerly High School staff member and a student, as revealed by Superintendent Mark Garceau.
In a letter addressed to parents, Garceau disclosed that the district received notice of the “very serious” allegations last Friday.
While the exact details have not been revealed, Garceau confirmed that the individual in question was male and the student involved was female.
The staff member has not been on campus since the beginning of the investigation, as stated by Garceau, who emphasized that the school’s administration and staff prioritize the students’ safety above everything else.
The Westerly Police Department has likewise opened up an investigation in cooperation with the district, and further information remains undisclosed at this time.
It is currently unknown whether the employee has been suspended or if charges will be filed in relation to the ongoing investigation.
