The Bristol County District Attorney announced that a Fall River man, Jajuan Torres, will serve two years in prison with 120 days to serve for assaulting three men who were holding “Back the Blue” signs outside the city’s police station. Torres pleaded guilty to three counts of assault and battery on a person over the age of 60 after confronting the 84-year-old, 66-year-old, and 64-year-old men and slapping one of the men on the head. Witnesses testified that Torres demanded the signs, pushed the men to the ground, and spat on one of them when he tried to intervene. In addition to his prison sentence, Torres was ordered to undergo mental health treatment. Two of the victims were present for the plea hearing and forgave Torres, saying they hope he gets the treatment he needs.
