The Burlington International Airport closed for three hours on Sunday due to a threat to a United Airlines flight that was inbound. Before arriving at the airport, the crew of United Flight 3613 reported a threat to air traffic control. Law enforcement agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI, responded to the incident. The Aviation Director stated that nothing unusual or suspicious was found on the aircraft. All 65 passengers remained on the plane for two hours after landing and were then evacuated while a police K-9 crew searched the aircraft. The airport reopened at 7:30 p.m., and no injuries were reported. Acting Burlington Police Chief Jon Murad assured everyone that they had a safe outcome, and all the procedures were correctly followed.
