In West Warwick, RI, the Matthew Dennison Charitable Foundation and Lyft have teamed up to offer discounted rides, called “Matty Wagons,” in an effort to promote safe, responsible behavior during St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. The foundation was established in memory of Matthew Dennison, a high school hockey player who was killed by an alleged drunk driver last year. To take advantage of this deal, riders can enter the promo code “MD16 RIDESAFE” in Rhode Island to receive $16 off their ride. According to the foundation, a similar Uber promotion is also in the works. Additionally, the Warwick Police Department will be offering free rides home from any bar or restaurant in the city from 7 pm to 2 am on Friday as part of its Safe Rides Program.
