A man from Rhode Island who was charged with raping and drugging a woman in Boston is no longer facing criminal charges. Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden filed a notice of nolle prosequi, indicating that the Commonwealth is no longer pursuing the case against Robert McClanaghan. The decision was made after a review of all available evidence, which led the Commonwealth to believe that it cannot prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt at trial. McClanaghan, an athletic trainer who has worked with some of the biggest names in the NBA, was arrested in November after allegedly sprinkling something into the woman’s drink. However, the DA’s office believes that dropping the charges is the “appropriate action,” and respects the privacy of all parties involved by providing no further comment.
