Pawtucket Mayor Don Grebien is urging the Rhode Island General Assembly to revise the Law Enforcement Officer Bill of Rights, stating that the current state law regulating police officer discipline needs to be reformed. This statement comes after Grebien seeks the dismissal of Pawtucket Patrolman Dan Dolan, who was acquitted of criminal charges by a jury in January for shooting and injuring a teenage driver outside a West Greenwich pizza shop in June 2021. In a recent interview, Grebien discussed his reasoning for wanting to change LEOBOR, arguing that it sets too high a hurdle to discipline officers. An image has been retained.
