A lobster trap tag that was issued to a Rhode Island fishing vessel over ten years ago has been discovered washed ashore on a beach in Scotland, as stated by the R.I. Department of Environmental Management (DEM). The DEM was contacted by a Scottish woman who explained that her son had found the tag whilst picking up rubbish along Meal Beach in Burra. Issued to a commercial fishing vessel, which was last registered in Rhode Island in 2011, it is thought that the tag has been floating around in the Atlantic Ocean for at least 12 years. All images to remain.
